The Governor of Jigawa State, Malam Umar Namadi has promised to forward the demands by the organized labour to the Federal Government for action.
The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Engineer Aminu Usman Gumel, made the promise when he received protesters against removal of fuel subsidy in Government House, Dutse, the capital of Jigawa State.
He called on the protesters to be calm and be law-abiding so that bad people would not take advantage of the protest and vandalize things in the process.
The protesting workers in the state have demanded the withdrawal of what it described as anti-human policies by the President Bola Tinubu.
The protesters were referring to the removal of oil subsidy as anti-human policies.
The protester began their march from the NLC secretariat Dutse to Government House Dutse with participants from across every angle of the state.
The protesters chant “Allow us to breathe, we are suffering, bring back the fuel subsidy, inflation is killing us, we don’t have a good life, among others”
Most of the protesters are youths and women drawn from the NLC, CSOs, traders, and other Individuals.
The NLC chairman in the state, Comrade Sunusi Alhassan Maigatari said the protest is to show the government that the policies they imposed are too harsh to Nigerians.
He asks the government to withdraw the policies, especially fuel subsidy removal which makes the price of commodities and transportation skyrocket beyond reach.
