Police in Kano on Friday confirmed the discovery of an explosive device at Aujirawa Alkali, a village in Gezawa local Government area of the state.
The device was discovered by a resident of the community when he went to the bush to ease himself around 5 am on Friday.
The recovery created fear in the community and vehicles made swift turns for safety in case of a blast.
Spokesman of the state Police Command, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the device has been successfully detonated by the team of the command’s Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD).
Kiyawa said, on sighting the device, a resident raised an alarm and the issue was immediately reported to the police who mobilized and cordoned off the area.
He said investigation had commenced to unravel those involved.
