Five governors have rushed to beat the two-month deadline on cabinet formation as they submitted their commissioner-nominees lists to their state Houses of Assembly on Friday.
The governors are those of Lagos state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State, Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River and Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu state.
Sanwo-Olu is appointing 39 commissioners, while Governors Yahaya and Sule of Gombe and Nasarawa respectively each submitted 17 names, Gov Otu of Cross River submitted 26 names while their Enugu state counterpart Mbah is asking his state assembly to screen the first batch of 15 nominees he forwarded to it.
Mbah did not say how many more names would be submitted and when he would do so.
Governor Yahaya returned five commissioners from his previous administration which include Habu Dahiru (Health), Zubairu Umar (Attorney General), Aishatu Maigari (Education), Gambo Magaji (Finance) and Nasiru Aliyu (Trade and Investment)
Other prominent names in the list are; Chairman Gombe Internal Revenue Service Salihu Alkali, former chairperson house committer-nominees include Aishatu Rufai Ibrahim – Awe LGA; Umar Abubakar Dan’akano – Awe; Yakubu Kwanta – Akwanga; Munirat Abdullahi – Doma; Timothy Kasuwa – Karu; Margaret Elayo – Keana; Bala Mulki – Keffi; and John Mamman – Kokona.
The others are Abubakar Imam Zanwa – Lafia; Aliyu Ahmed Tijjani – Nasarawa; Haruna Musa -Nassarawa Eggon; Muhammed Eyimoga – Obi; Labaran Magaji – Toto; Gaza Gwamna, Toto; Mu’azu Gosho – Wamba; Samuel Kafu Emgba -Lafia; and Ja’afaru Ango, Karu.
Gov Otu of Cross River’s list has Sen. Stephen Odey, Mr Mike Odere, Dr. Justin Beshel, Mrs Agnes Atsu, Dr. Beatrice Igwe, among others as nominees.
Enugu state Commissione- nominees as submitted by Prof. Ndubueze Mbah, Prof. Ngozi Eni, Prof. Sam Ugwu, Chika Ugwuoke, Kingsley Udeh, Prof. Emmanuel Obi, Okey Ogbodo.
Others are Nathaniel Urama, Malachy Agbo, Aka Eze Aka, Adaora Chukwu, Gerald Otiji, Lloyd Ekweremadu, Lawrence Eze and Ugochi Madueke.
