The Deputy National Chairman (North) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abubakar Kyari, has emerged as the acting National Chairman of the ruling party.
This is following the resignation of Senator Abdullahi Adamu on Sunday night.
Senator Iyiola Omisore has also resigned as the National Secretary of the party, contrary to an earlier denial by Omisore’s solicitor Kayode Ajulo who said his client did not resign.
Ajulo had described Omisore’s resignation as rumour, adding that both Adamu and omisore cannot resign at the same time.
Kyari emerged as the party’s leader in line with the party’s constitution, which states that if a national chairman resigns, the deputy national chairman from the zone would take over in acting capacity.
Kyari led some members of the National Working Committee (NWC) into a meeting currently taking place at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja amid tight security.
Those in the meeting include Deputy National Chairman (South), Emma Enukwu; National Vice Chairman (North-West), Salihu Lukman; National Vice Chairman (North-East), Salihu Mustapha; National Vice Chairman (North Central), Muazu Bawa; National Vice Chairman (South-West), Issacs Kekemeke; National Vice Chairman (South-East), Ejoroma Arodiogu and the Deputy National Secretary, Barr. Festus Fuanter.
It was also learnt that Omisore was barred from the meeting which was held following the resignation of Senator Adamu Abdullahi.
