The immediate past Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila has handed over the affairs of the House of Representatives to the new Speaker TajudDeen Abbas.
This is the first time there would be a kind of this handover since the advent of the 4th Republic in Nigeria.
Gbajabiamila handed over to Abbas on Tuesday after the latter was sworn in.
While congratulating Abbas, Gbajabiamila said he is confident that the new Speaker will succeed.
After the handing over, Speaker Abbas performed his first official duty by swearing in the new members.
Though he was among the members who took the oath of office on Tuesday under Speaker Abbas, Gbajabiamila, having been appointed Chief of Staff to the president, is expected to formally resign from his post and assume duty at the Presidential Villa as soon as possible.
