A Kano famous Islamic scholar and Chief Imam of Fagge Juma’at Mosque, Sheikh Nasir Muhammad Nasir, is dead.
The cleric, popularly known as Limamin Waje, was 87.
The late Imam was turbaned as Wazirin Kano by late Emir Ado Bayero.
However, he was removed by the then Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso citing alleged security concerns.
The cleric died on Wednesday after a protracted illness, according to family sources.
Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Wednesday condoled with the immediate family and people of Kano state Sheikh Nasir’s death.
A statement by the governor’s spox Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa described the deceased as a distinguished Islamic scholar of repute who contributed immensely towards the development of Islam not only in Kano or Nigeria but to the entire Muslim ummah globally.
“It is with total submission to the will of Allah that with the deepest shock we received the news of the death of the eminent scholar, Sheikh Nasir Muhammad Nasir, an imam, a community leader and a peace builder,” the governor said.
