Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has given seven days to the management of Kano State Water Board to submit its demands and end the lingering water scarcity in the state.
Yusuf gave the order during a visit to the Challawa Water Treatment Plant late on Tuesday.
The governor who declared a state of emergency on water scarcity,
said the development is part of his administration’s focus to cushion the effect of water scarcity across the state.
At the Challawa plant, Yusuf expressed dissatisfaction with the dilapidated condition of the facilities, saying water shortage would soon become a history.
He said the state government would fulfill its campaign promises, and urged Kano residents to give him the maximum cooperation.
The Director Production, Challawa Water Treatment Plant, Sakabu Lawal told the governor that only two water pumping machines of the available six are working.
Residents of the state have been grappling with water scarcity that is not limited to the metropolitan areas, but to rural areas.
