German police have dispatched over 1,000 officers to execute raids on the Islamic State terrorist organization’s finance network, searching more than 100 locations, federal prosecutors said on Wednesday.
The operations were carried out by federal and regional police and prosecutors, who apprehended seven people in the states of Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Bremen, and North Rhine Westphalia.
“By collecting donations and passing them on to Islamic State, they played a central role in the financial network,’’ they said.
The arrested suspects, most of whom hold German nationality, were to appear before a federal court on Wednesday and Thursday.
The court would rule on whether they would be held in custody or not.
