Real Madrid has complained to the Spanish State Attorney General’s Office, claiming that racism directed at Vinicius Junior is a “hate crime.”
Sunday’s 1-0 LaLiga loss for Real at Valencia was the scene of an alleged racial attack on Brazilian forward Vinicius. According to Valencia, police have identified the fan who made the racial gestures toward Vincius, and the person will be permanently banned from the Mestalla. Following the break, the game was stopped as Vinicius alerted the referee to spectators who were reportedly insulting him. The 22-year-old later claimed on social media that racism is “normal” in LaLiga.
