Kannywood superstar Ali Nubu has revealed that even though he had wanted his children to take up after him by being involved in the filmmaking business, both children wanted something different and he said he had no option but to oblige them their wishes.
Ali Nuhu made this known during a media chat with BBC Hausa service. According to him, his son Ahmad who is now 16 years old is currently pursuing his football career at Lanchester City in England and his daughter Fatima is presently a level three student in one of the Nigerian Unversities studying International Relations.
The actor made the remarks while disputing the assertion that says Kannyeood artists do not want their children to get involved in the screen business.
“It’s not true that we do not want our children to be like us. For instance, I wanted my chikdren to be actors just like me, but they made their point clear to me that they wanted something different and as a father, I have to throw in the towel and we resolved to support them achieve their wishes in ways that we can,” said Ali Nuhu.
The actor further described the Hausa film-making industry as a fast-growing industry that is currently making Nigeria proud globally.
He explained that filmmaking practitioners have begun to lose hope when things took a different dimension and now Netflix and other international agencies are busy looking for content from the Hausa filmmaking industry.
