Many were reportedly massacred in a fight between Kuteps and Fulani herdsmen in Ussa Local Government Area of Taraba State.
Ussa is on the fringes of border with Cameroon
According to a local who seeks anonymity, trouble strated when the Kuteps started accusing Fulani herdsmen of killing and kidnapping their people.
This led to counter arguments by the Fulani herdsmen at Kwe Sati on Thursday, leading to the fight.
The clash spread to Fikye town where many people were said to be killed.
The National President of Kutep Association, Emmanuel Ukwen, revealed that there were many casualties from both sides.
He said the area was deserted while the fight was still on and many residential buildings burnt down.
Kuteb youths attacked and burnt the palace of their paramount ruler of Lisam Kwe, Ando Madugu, whom they accused siding with Fulani herdsmen.
The chairman of Ussa LG, Abershi Musa, has resigned from his position on the allegation that the state government failed to take action over the killings of innocent people by Fulani herdsmen in Ussa.
The Ussa branch chairman of the Miyyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Alhaji Bello, refused to speak on the crisis, saying he would do so after the break of Ramadan Fast.
The state police Command is yet to respond to enquiries over the matter as at the time of this report.
