The New Nigerian Peoples Party’s (NNPP) governorship candidate, Abba Kabir Yusuf has been declared the winner of the Kano governorship election.
The declaration was made by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Monday morning.
Mr Yusuf, popularly known as Abba Gida Gida polled a total of 1, 019, 602 votes, defeating the incumbent deputy governor, Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna of the All Progressives Party who scored 890, 705 votes.
Mr Muhammad Sani Abacha of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) came third with 15, 957 votes.
