The police officer, Clement Amoko, who was abducted in the early hours of Sunday in Benin City, Edo State capital, has been rescued.
The officer was reportedly rescued in an operation carried out by men of tactical and strike forces of the Edo State Police Command, Amoko was abducted in the presence of his wife and children in his residence at Ogida quarters in Benin City.
It was learnt that the victim has been taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment after he was rescued.
Police spokesperson, Princewill Osaigbovo confirmed the release of the officer.
“I can tell you that he has been released and he is receiving treatment while he has also reunited with his family,” he said.
