The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has delisted 30 schools in Benue state.
The state’s Commissioner for Education, Prof. Dennis Ityavyar, disclosed during an interaction with journalists in Makurdi, on Sunday.
Ityavyar said the examination body took the decision following alleged examination malpractices by the affected schools, adding some of the schools had their results withdrawn due to the development.
Ityavyar said the education ministry has also listed over 1000 schools, both primary and post primary, for closure even as he decried the proliferation of illegal schools in the state. He said schools were mostly in the rural communities and are used as miracle centers.
