The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, has been announced as the winner of the February 25 presidential election in Borno State, placing him as the likely successor to President Muhammadu Buhari.
Mr Tinubu polled 252,282 votes across the 27 local government areas of the state,
He was declared winner by the Borno State Presidential Election Collation Officer, Prof. Jude Rabo.
Mr Tinubu defeated the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar, who got 190,921 votes.
The Labour Party’s Peter Obi polled 7,205 votes, while the New Nigeria Peoples Party’s Rabiu Kwankwaso got 4,626 votes.
Mr Tinubu won in Gubio, Kaga, Magumeri, Mafa, Kwaya Kusar, Konduga, Nganzai, Dikwa, Bayo, Abadan, Mobbar, Gwoza, Shani, Kala/Balge, Ngala, Marte, Jere, Askira, Chibok, Monguno, Damboa, Hawul, Guzamala, Biu and Kukawa.
The total registered voters in the was 2,497,337.
Total accredited voters: 499,543
Total valid votes: 465,287
Total rejected votes: 32,658
Total votes cast: 497,945
Mr Tinubu had earlier won the Saturday’s presidential election in Rivers State.
Tinubu polled 231,591 votes to defeat the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, who got 175,071 votes.
PDP’s Atiku Abubarkar came third with 88,468 votes.
Tinubu won in 15 out of the 23 local government areas of the state.
Mr Obi won in only five local government areas.
