An octogenarian, Madam Lucy Abua, said she decided to vote in Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections because she desires to see Nigeria get “a true leader” in her lifetime.
Abua, 84, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at her polling unit at Saint Vicent Primary School, Nkum-Aladim in Ogoja Local Government Area of Cross River.
She expressed optimism that Nigerians are on the threshold of getting the true leader that it deserves.
She expressed the desire to see Nigerians begin to reap the benefit of good governance before she passes on.
“I came out as early as possible to execute my constitutional right of ensuring that I contribute to the enthronement of a true leader and good governance in general.” the octogenarian said.
Similarly, Mrs Juliana Igbagi, a septuagenarian, who also voted in the same polling unit, said she would not leave her polling unit until her vote was counted.
“You can look around yourself and see if you will be happy with the situation of things.
“We are here to elect people that can make a difference in our life as a country,” she said.
NAN reports the presence of security personnel in strategic locations amid a large turnout of voters at the polling unit.
