A guy who was fined for wandering through the streets of a town in the Valencia region while barefoot and then attempted to show up for a court hearing has won the support of a Spanish high court. The high court for the area declared in a statement that it had rejected an appeal against a judgment by a lower court to reverse fines imposed on the guy for walking around naked in the streets of Aldaia, a town outside the regional capital. The court did acknowledge a “legal vacuum” with relation to public nudity in Spanish law.
Alejandro Colomar, 29, was seen on camera walking into court in just a pair of hiking boots before being told to change into more appropriate attire before proceeding inside. He maintained that the fines violated his right to ideological freedom during his trial. He started exposing himself in public in 2020 and has since received more encouragement than criticism while wandering around naked, albeit once receiving a knife threat. He declared, “The fine doesn’t make any sense. “I was charged with obscene exhibitionism. That suggests sexual purpose, which has nothing to do with what I was doing, according to the dictionary.”
