Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum has appointed retired Brig.-General Abdullahi Sabi Ishaq, as Special Adviser on Security Affairs.
The spokesman to the governor, Isa Gusau, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.
General Ishaq, retired from the Nigerian Army on January 10, 2021, after 35 years of service.
Before his retirement, he was coordinator of the Military Police component of Operation Lafiya Dole from December 2018 to January, 2021.
General Ishaq was Commander of 8 Provost Group, Nigerian Army, in Monguno from February 2016 to February 2018.
He had also served as Director, Standard and Evaluation, Army Headquarters, Abuja; Chief Instructor, Nigeria Army School of Military Police, Zaria; Director, Special Investigation Bureau, Apapa, Lagos; and Army Corps of Military Police, Abuja.
General Ishaq had also served in UN missions to Sierra Leone and Liberia.
He was Company Commander, Nigeria Defence Academy, Kaduna; 1 Provost Group, Nigerian Army, Kaduna; 2 Provost Company, Ibadan; Platoon Commander.
An indigene of Kwara State, General Ishaq was a recipient of military medals including, Force Service Star, Meritorious Service Star, and Distinguished Service Star, as well as medals from Operation Lafiya Dole and the United Nations, in recognition of his 30 years of unblemished service in the Nigerian Army.
