One person was killed and two others abducted when gunmen stormed Rurum town in Rano local government area of Kano State.
Reports said the bandits struck the community at about 1pm on Wednesday.
The abducted persons were identified as Alhaji Jibrin and Hajiya Asabe Jibrin, parents of one Alhaji Yusuf Jibrin, a popular businessman in Rurum town.
Eyewitnesses said the gunmen released Jibrin’s father, who they said suffered injuries during the attack, but went with the mother.
The deceased, Abba Yusuf Gwaddu, who is the businessman’s brother, was said to have died at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, where he was taken after he was shot.
Residents of the community said there wasn’t any support from security personnel during the attack.
The spokesperson of the Kano State Police Command Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa confirmed the incident.
He said two people were abducted by the gunmen, but the Police have rescued one person and have intensified efforts to rescue the remaining person.
