Bandits on Wednesday invaded the residence of Sokoto State Commissioner for Youth and Sport Development, Bashir Gorau, and abducted his sister in-law and brother.
The commissioner disclosed this on his Facebook page on Wednesday.
Gorau said the bandits attacked the house in Gorau Town, Goronyo local government area at about 12:45am, and shot into the air to scare the residents before they whisked away his relations.
“We are still waiting for their call to know their demands,” he said.
Sokoto State has witnessed a rise in bandit attacks in recent times.
21st Century Chronicle recalled that a businessman, Alhaji Rabi’u Amarawa, abducted by bandits on Monday in the State was killed after payment of ransom by his family, on Tuesday.
This came after 12 people were killed by bandits while attempting to rescue the businessman on Sunday.
