After playing a pivotal part in Inter Milan’s Supercoppa Italiana triumph over AC Milan in Riyadh on Wednesday, Edin Dzeko quipped that he feels like a 21-year-old again.
With his skillful goal in Inter’s 3-0 victory, the Bosnia and Herzegovina international passed Cristiano Ronaldo as the competition’s oldest goal scorer.
In an earlier play that earned him the sponsors’ man of the match award, he set up Federico Dimarco by playing in Nicolo Barella with a lovely pass.
Dzeko, who turns 37 in March and whose contract at San Siro expires at the end of the current season, is not currently considering his options.
He said to Sport Mediaset, “That’s not for today. “We’re delighted for the supporters because we deserved the victory. We will celebrate today, after which we may consider anything else.”
When asked his actual age after going back in time, Dzeko grinned and replied, “I’ll be 22 soon!”
In order to secure a resounding Derby della Madonnina victory in Saudi Arabia, Lautaro Martinez took advantage of another shoddy Milan defense, with Fikayo Tomori being particularly at fault.
