Members of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have killed six policemen at checkpoints in Obubra LGA in central Cross River State.
Weapons belonging to the policemen were also carted away by the gunmen.
Reports said two policemen were killed at Ofotura checkpoint, while four were killed at Oyadama checkpoint.
A soldier was also reported to have been shot in the hand during the attack.
The spokesperson of Cross River Police Command, Irene Ugbo, said he was yet to receive the reports of the incidents.
The Chairman of Police Community Relations Committee, David Amieye confirmed the incident. He urged the police to be deterred by incidents, but fight criminalities with all determination.
