Aisha Abdulmutallib and her husband, the winners of the 37th National Qur’anic Recitation Competition, have received two residences and Hajj tickets from Yobe Governor Mai Mala Buni.
When giving Abdulmutallib a cheque for N4 million for winning the tournament held in Gusau, Zamfara, the state governor of the state, Gov. Mai Mala Buni stated this in Damaturu on Thursday.
In appreciation for their efforts in helping the winner succeed, he also sanctioned an undisclosed number of Hajj seats for the staff of the state’s Arabic and Islamic Board as well as teachers at the Islamic school she attended.
Observing that the State Emergency Initiative on Education, which was launched in 2019, was having positive results, he said the winner, a native of Potiskum Local Government Area, had done the state proud.
Buni promised to support the champion’s education at the college of her choice and appoint her as a liaison officer to represent the state wherever she goes in order to raise her spirits.
The governor pledged to keep putting policies and programs into action that will support Western and Islamic education in the state.
Earlier, Mohammad Idris, the commissioner for education, asked for more Hajj seats for the board and the school.
The winner also praised the gesture and promised to keep up the pace.
She challenged other kids and prospective competitors to focus on their education so they could succeed in competitions in the future.
Buni, meantime, has named the recently finished Nguru market after Sheikh Ngibirma, saying the gesture was made to honor the late illustrious cleric who made significant contributions to Islamic education in the state.
