The Chairman, Senate Committee on Defence, Aliyu Magartakarda Wamakko on Monday condemned the wanton killings of people by bandits in the eastern part of Sokoto State.
Bandits have been unleashing mayhem on some communities in the eastern part of the state, leading to the deaths of 19 people within one week.
People have also deserted their communities and sought refuge in Niger Republic due to the wanton killings.
Wamakko said: “These dastardly acts are condemnable and have become a formidable source of concern for the leaders, as well as all well-meaning and law abiding citizens. All critical stakeholders have been having sleepless nights, sequel to this obnoxious situation.
“All and sundry should however sustain fervent prayers, for divine intervention in the security quagmire.”
He condoled the family of the victims of the attacks, and prayed for speedy recovery of the wounded.
