Kano-based Islamic scholar, Sheikh Abduljabbar Nasiru Kabaru says he will attend the debate organized by Kano State Government between him and other clerics in the state.
He said this in a letter to the state government.
The state government had sent a letter to the cleric that it has fixed March 7 as the date for the debate.
The state’s Commissioner for Information, Muhammad Garba, said in a statement on Sunday said that both Sheikh Abduljabbar and the Council of Ulamas have been served with the letter indicating the schedule for the debate.
“I accepted this invitation and I will attend the dialogue with an open mind and I hope all the concerned parties will attend the dialogue with an open mind,” Abduljabbar said.
He said he hoped the dialogue would bring an understanding and lasting solution to the issue, and urged the government to accord all the concerned parties equal treatment and fair hearing during the dialogue.
