The House of Representatives has asked the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to suspend its new cash withdrawal policy.
The policy, which was made on Tuesday, limits individuals and organisations to weekly withdrawals of N100,000 and N500,000 respectively.
The policy is to take effect from January 9, 2023.
However, the lawmakers have summoned CBN governor, Godwin Emefiele over the new policy.
He is expected to appear next Thursday.
The resolution was passed during plenary on Thursday, following the adoption of a motion of urgent public importance sponsored by Rep
Magaji Dau Aliyu from Jigawa State.
The lawmakers resolved that the CBN should halt the implementation pending the conclusion of the probe.
