Gunmen have kidnapped a former Accountant-General of Cross River State, Rose Bassey.
Also kidnapped were three others with the former Ag victim on Tuesday evening at Uyanga-Okomita area of the Ikom-Calabar highway.
The gunmen shot noe of the victims who is being treated at an undisclosed hospital.
The state Police spokesperson, SP Irene Ugbo, was yet to respond to calls on the abduction.
It would be recalled that state Commissioner of Police, Sule Balarabe, had ordered Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers to secure the highway, which had become dangerous as gunmen continued to abduct travellers.
