The National Centre for Technology Management (NACETEM) is aiming to address the country’s energy challenges by holding the Global Science, Technology, and Innovation Community G-STIC Conference.
This was stated by Isaac Oluyi, NACETEM’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), on Friday in Abuja.
The conference would be held on December 7 and 8 at its headquarters, Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife. He said,
“Solving the energy crisis is one of the most essential undertakings of the 21st century.
“Perfect solutions will be hard to come by, due not only to drastic differences in political and public support for sustainable energy throughout the world,” Oluyi said.
He attributed this to the broad expertise required to address the numerous issues involved with the global energy situation.
The NACETEM spokesperson stated that as a knowledge support institution, the agency decided to focus on the energy sector at the 2022 G-STIC conference.
He said the theme of the conference is: ‘Science, Technology and Innovation: Pathways to Energy Sustainability in Nigeria.’
He attributed this to the broad expertise required to address the numerous issues involved with the global energy situation.
The Nigerian edition of the G-STIC conference, according to Oluyi, is a warm-up for the main event in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 2023.
He said: “It will focus, among others, on knowledge and technologies that are crucial to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly issues such as renewable energy, circular economy, green environment, among others.
“The agency will connect policymakers, academics and practitioners at the conference with a view to coming up with market-ready technological solutions that will help achieve sustainable development, particularly within the energy space.”
NACETEM is an agency of the Federal Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (STI). (NAN)
