Four people have been killed and several livestock rustled when bandits invaded two villages in the eastern part of Sokoto state.
The Spokesman of the Sokoto State Police Command, Sunusi Abubakar, has not been briefed about the attacks.
However, Commissioner for Carrier and Security Matters, Garba Moyi, confirmed the incident.
He said three persons were killed at Bargaja village in Isa local government area at about 2pm, while one was killed in a community in Sabon Birni local government.
Reports say six persons sustained gunshot injuries during the bandit attack, and have been taken to hospital for treatment.
The commissioner said the attacks were made by the splinter groups of some gangs that already embraced peace with the government.
He explained that most of the people killed were either members of the vigilante group or those who lost their animals and decided to pursue the bandits.
