The Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSEIC) has said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is participating in the forthcoming local government elections scheduled for Saturday.
Chairman of KANSEIC, Professor Garba Ibrahim Sheka told newsmen Wednesday in Kano that PDP has fielded 44 chairmanship and 444 councillorship candidates in the election, thereby dispelling any speculation that the party was not participating in the polls.
Sheka said for security reasons, sensitive materials for the elections will be distributed 24 hours to the election.
He said “there was no letter from anybody that he has withdrawn or he is not contesting the election.”
The chairman said the PDP is contesting and that “on their candidates’ names, we just write PDP.”
