The Progressives Peoples Alliance (PPA), Peoples Party of Nigeria (PPN), Change Advocacy Party (CAP) and Democratic Alternative (DA) have decided to boycott the local government elections taking place Saturday in Yobe state.
The Secretary of Inter Party Advisory Council IPAC Yobe State chapter, Adamu Muhammad Babangida, said the electoral process is faulty.
He said free and fair elections are integral and essential parts of democracy, adding that the Yobe State LG elections lack these qualities.
Meanwhile, Chairman, Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission Dr. Mamman Mohammed said the Commission will hold free and fair elections.
He said together with the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, a voters register containing 1,365,000 voters has been printed.
He said the state has 178 wards and 1,714polling units each to be manned by two security details to ensure, free, fair and secure elections.
