One of the teachers of Government Girls Secondary School, Jangebe, Zamfara State, has said the bandits stationed vehicles at the outskirts of the school before they invaded the school and abducted the girls.
Bandits abducted over 300 students of the school early Friday morning.
The abduction of the Zamfara school girls is coming 10 days after bandits abducted 40 students and staff of Government Science College Kagara Niger State. The abductees are still in the hands of their captors, despite Federal Government assurance that it would do everything possible to secure their release.
The teacher who pleaded anonymity said the gunmen also laid siege and attacked the soldiers stationed in the community before they gained entry into the school.
He said about 50 were left behind, while several others were taken away.
The teacher said parents of the students who escaped the abduction came to the school as early as 5 am to take away their daughters, while some mothers of kidnapped girls were slumped on the school premises.
He said: “Initially, the school authorities prevented them from going with the remaining students but they grew angrier and began to pull down doors and windows of the buildings in the school and the school authority had to yield to their demands.
“Security operatives and the local vigilante groups are trailing the gunmen and dozens of other residents have volunteered to take part in the search.”
