Two nurses and two security personnel working with Ibadan Central Hospital, Ibadan, had been charged to court for allegedly cutting flesh from a corpse in their hospital.
Ibadan, Nov. 4, 2022 (NAN) sitting at Ibadan on Friday, has granted bail of N200,000 each to The defendants are nurses Muibat Olatunji, 27, and Oluwafunmilayo Omeh, 22, and security men Bamidele Bamiro, 32, and Godwin Omomoh, 22.
They were charged with a two-count charge of “having no regards for the corpse and offering indignity to corpse before An Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court.
Defence Counsel, Mr George Olaniyi, who appeared for the first and second defendants, sought their bail in liberal term as the defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Emmanuel Idowu, granted the defendants bail in N200,000 with two sureties in like sum and, thereafter, adjourned the case tio December 19, for mention.
The Prosecutor, Insp Iyabo Oladoyin, accused the defendants and others, now at large, of conspiracy, saying the defendants, on October 30 cut flesh from the forehead and right arm of the corpse of one Rachael Boluade who died in their hospital.
Oladoyin said the offence contravened section 242 and 517 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.
