Drugs worth over N450 billion have been seized between January 2021 and September 2022, Chairman/Chief Executive, National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Buba Marwa has said.
He told the House of Representatives Committee on Drugs and Narcotics during the 2023 budget defence on Thursday that the agency arrested 19, 341 suspects for drugs-related offences and 28 barons within the period in review.
The former military administrator of Lagos State said the NDLEA seized 5,451,000 kilograms of illicit substances.
He added that 3,111 offenders were convicted within the period; while 3,232 cases were pending in court.
Marwa said 714 hectares of cannabis farms were destroyed within the same period.
