The Director General of National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Muhammad Kaku Fadah has described his Military Assistant, Lt Col AK Balarabe as a goal-getter, loyal and hardworking officer.
He stated this on Tuesday while decorating him with the new rank of Lieutenant Colonel at event held at the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters in Maitama, Abuja.
General Fadah who was joined by the wife of the celebrant, Mrs Balarabe to decorate the MA, urged Mr Balarabe to be more committed to his duties, adding that every promotion comes with higher responsibilities.
The DG also used the occasion to solicit for more support from NYSC officials.
Dignitaries at the ceremony include the Commander, Guards Brigade Abuja, Brigadier General MT Usman who urged Lt Col Balarabe to remain loyal to the constituted authority.
“You have to prepare and work for the next rank. Wherever you are, let the system feel your impact”, he said.
Speaking on behalf of NYSC, the Director, Internal Audit, Mr Leke Abiodun wished Lt Col Balarabe greater achievements in his career.
In his response, the newly decorated Lt Col Balarabe appreciated God, while he also thanked President Muhammadu Buhari, the Army Council, Service Chiefs and others for the rare privilege of his promotion.
“I pledged my loyalty to the nation, Nigerian Army, NYSC and l shall continue to put in my best”, he said.
Lt Col AK Balarabe hails from Kura in Kura Local Government Area of Kano State. He attended Science Secondary School Dawakin Kudu and thereafter Bayero University Kano where he bagged BSc Civil Engineering.
He holds MSc Water Resources and Environmental Engineering, MA, International Affairs and Defence Studies (MIADS) and also Master of Logistics and Supply Chain Management (MLSCM).
Mr Balarabe has attended several courses within and outside the country and he is a member of Council for the Registration of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Nigerian Environmental Society (NES), Institute of Civil Engineers UK, Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) and Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM).
He was commissioned into the Nigerian Army on 24th October 2008.
The ceremony was witnessed by family members, friends, schoolmates including some officers and men of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
