At least 15 persons have died in another boat mishap in Shagari local government area of Sokoto state.
The villagers were said to be on their way to attend a Moulud programme in another village.
It was said that 25 passengers were aboard the canoe when it capsized.
This was the second time a deadly boat mishap was recorded in the area as it would be recalled that 29 girls were drowned in April this year in the same local government area when their canoe capsized on their way to the nearby forest to fetch firewoods
Confirming the incident, the chairman of the council, Aliyu Dantani said the incident occurred on Tuesday around evening time.
He said villagers were on their way to attend a Moulud festival in another village when the incident occured.
He said the deceased came from different communities.
He said, “They were 25 but only 10 survived the incident.”
