The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has said there is no decision to reopen the nation’s universities on October 17 as reported in a section of the media.
This was contained in a post on the union’s official Twitter account @ASUU_NGN on Tuesday.
“The union is working towards suspension of the action, reports claiming that members are directed to resume academic activities on October 17 are not true, but it would be dependent on the views of members from the zonal meetings,” the tweet read.
It was earlier reported that ASUU was planning an emergency meeting for Wednesday (tomorrow).
Sources were quoted to have said the outcome of the meeting would then be sent to the union’s national body, which is expected to have a meeting on Thursday during which a decision on the lingering strike would be made.
