A former military governor of Imo and Lagos states, retired Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu, is dead.
He died Wednesday morning at the age of 77 after battling an undisclosed ailment, according to his associates.
He was governor of Imo in 1975 and Lagos in 1976.
The former naval chief fought on the Biafran side during the Nigerian civil war but was reabsorbed into the Nigerian military at the end of the war in 1970.
Kanu was a member of the pro-democracy group, the National Democratic Coalition, NADECO, which fought for the revalidation of the late Moshood Abiola’s annulled June 12 1993 presidential mandate.
