Investigations into the fire outbreak in Kogi State House of Assembly has commenced.
The spokesperson of the state police command, SP William Ovye Aya, who revealed this in a statement on Monday, said an on the spot assessment of the scene of the fire had been undertaken by a team from the state command.
Aya said the Commissioner of Police led the team of tactical operatives on the visit to the scene and has equally ordered for a thorough investigation into the incident.
He said the commissioner has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to commence investigations in synergy with the Fire Service to unravel the cause of the inferno.
The House of Assembly, according to Aya, is to be cordoned off for preservation and to ensure adequate security.
The House of Assembly which was gutted by fire in the early hours of Monday took the guards by surprise.
