Delta Government has assured that the multi-billion naira Ogheye Floating Market, a riverine community in Warri North Local Government Area of the state will be inaugurated on November.
The State Commissioner for Works (Highways), Mr Noel Omodon, disclosed this while briefing newsmen on some of the decisions reached at the State Executive Council meeting, presided by Gov Ifeanyi Okowa on Friday in Asaba.
Omodon said that government has approved for the contractor to complete the water treatment plant at the Ogheye market to enable its inauguration come November.
According to him, government also approved the repudiation of the contract for Ayokoromo Bridge, Burutu LGA to ensure speedy completion of the project before the end of the administration.
He said that government had approved the transmission of the 2023 budget to the State House of Assembly for its consideration and approval.
Omodon, also said that the council approved upward reviews of many roads, bridge and housing projects to reflect realities of the moment and enable contractors complete the projects in recorded time.
On sports, the commissioner said that government was committed to hosting the National Sports festival in November, adding that approvals were given for the contractors to put finishing touches on the needed facilities.
He said that approvals were given for the completion of the School of Medical Sciences at the University of Delta, Agbor to enable accreditation for the programmes.
On the ravaging flood across the state, Omodon revealed that government has set up camps at strategic places to accommodate those impacted by the flood.
According to him, the state government has approved funds and set up different committee and they are all deployed to the camps which are being opened today (Friday).
