Federal High Court in Sokoto has remanded Bello, a Director of Administration in the Sokoto State Commodity Board for alleged N1.3 million job scam.
Bello was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Wednesday.
According to the prosecution counsel, Mr Hannafi Sa’ad, the accused committed the offence sometime in Aug. 2021.
Sa’ad told the court that suspect had collected the money from Aliyu Adamu-Tsaki, Yusuf Abubakar and Yahaya Salihu at the presence of one Dahiru Muhammad in Sokoto.
The accused person also presented false letters to the victims which were later discovered to be fake and non existent.
While taking his plea, the accused person pleaded not guilty to the charges and as such his counsel filed a motion for bail application which was rejected by the prosecution counsel.
According to the prosecution counsel, he was just served a copy of the motion and need time to study it and file a counter affidavit.
The trial judge, Justice Ahmad Mahmud adjourned the case to Oct. 4, 2022 to hear motion for bail application as well as continue the case
He ordered the accused person to be remanded in Correctional Center custody.
