The Ondo State Government has said it undertook mass burial of unclaimed corpses to prevent disease outbreak in the state.
Special Adviser, Health to the Governor , Prof Dayo Faduyile, who gave the reason in a statement on Tuesday, said he was taken aback at the gory state at the morgues.
Faduyile added that with the situation it became necessary to evacuate the mortuary as he presented a memo on the situation to the governor.
He said a mass burial of 496 unclaimed corpses were carried out at its morgues at the Akure and Ondo complexes of the University of Medical Science Teaching Hospital (UNIMEDTH).
Dr. Faduyile said the move was to decongest the morgues after an assessment tour of both hospitals.
