Twenty-eight-year-old Ismail Adewuyi has been nabbed by members of the Nigeria Hunters and Forest Security Service in Ede, Osun State, for allegedly stealing a female corpse’s head and intestines at the Muslim Cemetery, Oke Yidi, in the Ede area of the state.
Adewuyi, armed with assorted charms, went to the cemetery in the early hours of Saturday, exhumed a corpse, cut the head and removed its intestines.
Adewuyi was about leaving the cemetery when the unters , who had suspected his plan, ambushed and arrested him.
The suspect told the local security outfit that he was a herbalist.
A source said, “We heard the noise and few people that could go out saw hunters interrogating a suspect carrying head of a corpse and intestines that he exhumed at the Muslim Cemetery, Oke Yidi, Ede.
“The suspect was later handed over to the police. Those who arrested him recorded his confession on video. The suspect is with the police.”
The state Police spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, said the suspect was brought to the police with an unknown fresh female head and intestines, adding that investigation into the matter is in progress.
