Details have emerged on how the Niger state Government has secured the release of the abducted NSTA bus passengers.
21st Century Chronicle learnt that the abducted passengers were released Sunday afternoon and handed over to the state government at an undisclosed location in Zamfara state.
It was learnt that the Niger State government has dispatched vehicles to convey the freed travelers back to the state.
It was gathered that the release of the passengers was as a result of the mediation by Sheikh Ahmad Gumi few days ago
The state government Ialso said it’s intensifying efforts to secure the release of abducted students and staffs of Government Science College Kagara.
21st Century Chronicle reports that the bus conveying the travelers was abducted six days ago near Zungeru town in Wushishi local government area of the state.
The GSC Kagara abduction also took place two days after.
The release of the travelers is coming after days of negotiations between the state government and leaders of the bandits at Kontokoro, Mariga local government area of the state.
Gumi on Thursday after a meeting with bandits commanders attended also by the Secretary to Niger state Government, Ibrahim Matane, assured that over 1000 persons in the hands of the bandits including the passengers and the 27 abducted students of Government Science College Kagara.
At the meeting, the commanders agreed to release the victims if bandits in government facilities were granted amnesty.
The bandits were said to have demanded N500million ransom for the release of the victims but the state governor ruled out the possibility of paying any ransom, instead promised to pardon any of them that handover their arms to embrace peace.
