Popular upcoming Nigerian music star, Ayra Starr, has become the youngest recipient of the Best Next Rated Award.
Other prominent female musicians, Omawumi and Asa won the prize in 2009 and 2006 respectively.
The hit song “away,” which spent two weeks in a row at number four on Nigeria’s TurnTable Top 50 and climbed to number 17 on US Billboard Top Triller Global, helped the 20-year-old singer gain mainstream recognition after she signed a recording contract with Mavin Records.
This paved the way for the release of her debut full-length studio album, 19 & Dangerous, in August 2021.
Without a doubt, Ayra has gained international recognition for herself.
