Idrissa Akuna Elba, the British actor, producer, and singer, is celebrating 50 years today, Tuesday.
Social media platforms were used to announce the actor’s birthday as congratulations poured in.
Idris, who is well recognized for his dramatic films, made his television debut on the HBO crime drama “The Wire.”
He portrayed the resourceful drug lord Russell “Stringer” Bell for three seasons from 2002 to 2004.
He has more than 50 film roles, and he has received numerous award nominations.
He has been nominated five times for a Primetime Emmy Award and was nominated four times for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Television Film, which resulted in his winning one.
Idris has two children from past relationships and is married to Sabrina Dhowre Elba.
His son Winston Elba, who was named after his (Idris’) father who passed away in 2013, and his eldest daughter Isan Elba were both born in 2002 to him and his first wife, Kim Norgaard.
