The remains of 15 persons drowned in River Ngadabul in Maiduguri, Borno State, had been recovered.
Coordinator, North East, National Emergency Management Agency, Muhammad Usman, said many people from different communities who live on the banks of the river drowned as a result of flood.
He said with heavy rain still falling the flood was inceasing.
He warned parents and guardians to caution their wards and children from going to swim in the river to avoid drowning.
Usman said, ”NEMA as a disaster agency has been engaged in serious sensitisation of the public on dangers of flooding and precautionary measures.
“We have been having meetings with various stakeholders on sensitisation and providing relief materials to affected communities,” Usman said.
Meanwhile, the Borno Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps had deployed its personnel along the river banks to chase away children trooping to the river to take a swim.
