Bandits have abducted a lecturer with the Federal University Dutsin Ma, Dr. Abdulmalik Sabitu Nabukka and one other person in a Friday night attack.
The duo were abducted by the bandits in Unguwar Nabukka, one kilometre from Funtua town.
A colleague of the lecturer, who asked not to be named, said Abdulmalik was abducted around 9:45 pm.
“He was sitting few metres away from his house in the company of some friends and other neigbours when the bandits came on their motorcycles. They commanded them to follow them but most of them scattered, running in different directions. Abdulmalik was not lucky because he was sitting on a mat while most of those who escaped where on the benches. He and another older neigbour were taken away,” he said.
He added that he reached out to the family and the bandits were yet to call for ransom negotiations.
Another staff of the institution, confirmed the abduction in a Facebook post and telephone interview with 21st CENTURY CHRONICLE.
Both the university spokesperson, Habibu Umar Aminu, and police spokesperson, SP Gambo Isa, didn’t respond to calls by 21st CENTURY CHRONICLE reporter on the abduction.
