A woman identified as Hajiya Bilkisu was lynched by a mob in Kaduna for allegedly housing seven bandits in her residence.
The deceased was killed in Mariri community of Lere local government area of the state.
A statement by Kaduna’s internal security commissioner Samuel Aruwan on Wednesday said the troops of Operation Safe Haven, acting on credible intelligence, arrested members of a kidnap syndicate being sheltered by the deceased woman.
The arrested bandits are Musa Adamu, Abdullahi Usman, Suleiman Hasidu, Usman Jibril, Saidu Isah, Hassan Abdulhamid, and Idris Sani, the statement said.
Aruwan said, “One Hajiya Bilkisu, a suspected accomplice who had been housing the arrested persons, was unfortunately lynched by members of the community as she tried to escape.”
He said the Kaduna State Government noted the report with satisfaction and commended the troops for their prompt action on credible intelligence gathered.
The commissioner urged security agencies to ensure a thorough investigation of the suspects.
