All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for Jigawa South West District, Tijjani Ibrahim, has died.
He died on Saturday at a hospital in China after a protracted illness.
Ibrahim died barely three months after he won the APC senatorial ticket where he garnered 361 votes.
His death was confirmed by Jigawa State government in a statement on Sunday.
brahim represented Dutse/Kiyawa federal constituency in the House of Representatives between 2011 to 2015.
He was earlier admitted at an Abuja hospital before he was flown to China for further treatment.
In a condolence message, Governor Muhammad Abubabar Badaru said he has lost a dependable ally.
A statement by Badaru’s spokesperson, Habibu Kila, said Ibrahim’s death “is a great loss not only to his family but to the Muslim Ummah”.
He said the deceased was “a loyal and dependable politician who contributed immensely to the political development of the country.”
